Review: Shadowland (The Immortals #3) by Alyson Noel
3 Stars
Series: The Immortals
Author: Alyson Noel
Quote: “Give the people what they want.”
In the last book, we are left off after Ever gives Damen the antidote that returned him to life and unknowingly ensured their physical separation forever.
At the beginning of this book we see Damen teaching her about the energy of the world while she desperately tries to make herself tell him about Roman tricking her to put her blood in the antidote, about her mistake. That with one kiss, one touch of her DNA to hers, he will die.
Damen believing his karma has finally caught up to him decides to change his vain and self-serving ways. Meaning getting rid of his car, all his fancy clothes and all other ‘unnecessary indulgences’.
Desperate to find a way to break the curse on Damen Ever immerses herself in magick, and gains help from Jude, a surfer dude, with eyes that draws her in and seems so familiar. But her new relationship with Jude tests more than just her magick abilities but her relationship with Damen when more secrets from the past come into light.
Ever doesn’t really have a very good connection with her two friends in this installment, they seem distant, snappy and slightly snobby. Her and her aunts relationship had always been relaxed, and is the same in this one, if not more so.
The author has done a really great job with this book, though it doesn’t quiet live up to the previous installments. It was slow at first not really picking up interest/action until around chapter ten or eleven. That is where we start to see real character progression.
Altogether an okay installment, and a must read for The Immortal lovers.
